Benefits
The Sonicrimp® Process is Methode’s patented simple, elegant, and efficient technique using ultrasonic welding for terminating wires. Stored energy keeps contacts and wires in compression, even after extended heat aging and thermal cycling.
- No solder, IDC, or conductive adhesives
- Higher density potential
- Ultrasonic welding
- Moisture barriers
- Special mounting designs can be incorporated to provide superior strain relief to the cable
- Rounded edges provide added comfort and safety for patients using medical applications
- Won’t crack or increase resistance like conductive adhesives
- Environmentally sealed
- Small and robust
- Cost-effective
- Ergonomic finger grips for added efficiency and safety
RoHS
Sonicrimp is a “green” technology, requiring no solder and no lead.
Sonicrimp Products
- Printed Circuit Board Terminations
- Polymer Thick Film Terminations
- Flexible Circuit Terminations
- Wire and Cable Terminations
- Custom Applications
- Can be used with Highly Conductive Silver Ink and Polymer Thick Film Circuits
Capabilities
Beyond the mass termination process, we can configure the cap and cradle used in a Sonicrimp® termination to provide a host of other features. For example, we can mold a cable strain relief into the cap and cradle, eliminating a component and reducing the steps in the assembly process.
Features and Benefits
- Sonicrimp® process provides multiple connections simultaneously with virtually any combination of wire and contact.
- Rugged construction allows for use in environments of heavy shock and vibration.
- Terminates flexible circuits, rigid circuits, wires and contacts.
- Provides added features like strain relief, mechanical mounting features and environmental sealing.
Applications
- Medical (rounded edges provide comfort and safety for patients).
- Licensing – technology can be added as an in-line process at customers' facilities.
